Generative AI is amazing and awe-inspiring, but first you need to ask something. If you’re like most people, this is the hard part - coming up with interesting things to ask. That’s where I’m here to help!
I am constantly coming across really interesting ways people have thought of to use these models. Whether that’s from reading posts by industry experts; seeing examples used in breakthrough research papers; in conversations with coworkers, users, and partners; or listening to talks at industry events and the subsequent banter with people during the networking sessions after – there are always new angles that continue to surprise me.
I usually take a note to myself to remember these for later, but I realize that if I find these interesting, and I’m having trouble thinking of these on the spot (when left staring at a blank prompt input screen), there are likely many others like me in the same position. So I’ve decided to start an ongoing series in which I’ll list out the top 3 prompts in each post that follow a particular theme.
So without further ado, I present to you this week's theme…Sparking creativity through comparison

Prompt #1: Compare Similarities
This one is great for comparing 2 things that don’t seem related at first - like a Michelin star meal to WhatsApp.
Compare [X] to [Y] in a way that uncovers thought-provoking and unconventional parallels, inviting readers to reflect on new perspectives and appreciate fresh viewpoints. Explore the implications and lessons that can be drawn from these unexpected connections.
Prompt #2: Identify Differences
This one is ideal for finding the difference in 2 things that seem very similar at first glance - like why you should choose a down fill vs. down alternative for your pillow; or the difference between green grapes and purple grapes (handy if your 2 year old is anything like mine).
Explore the subtle yet significant differences between [X] and [Y], two seemingly similar concepts or ideas. Offer a detailed and insightful analysis that challenges the initial assumption of their similarities. Provide thought-provoking insights that highlight the distinct characteristics that set them apart,
Prompt #3: Create Anecdotes
This one is meant to just be fun, it’s great for a touch of playfulness in your day — like the heartwarming similarities between Golden Retrievers and general relativity.
Craft a charming, humorous, and whimsical analogy connecting [X] and [Y], with a touch of depth; make it succinct, witty, and accessible to a broad audience.
